Eric, it was definitely the horn and not the finish. My satin silver plays beautifully, and the finish does have a little to do with the playing, but that is why the satin silver is the best. It is a darker sound compared to the polished silver. The response and sound were the horn. Conn doesnt make the horn very consistently, but from my experience, there isnt exactly a bad one, just some are better than others.
