I used a similar technique on my project horn, but without hard soldering. It's ugly, but it worked.

During a visit, Joe showed me how he was reducing the opening of a branch by forcing it into a tapered hole (which I mentioned in my first post). I suppose he will use draw rings or dent balls to smooth out the taper. Clearly, compressing brass is a lot harder than stretching it, which means the skills required are greater.
