I am looking to buy a tuba for my son. He is 13 and has played for 2 years. He's taking private lessons, in the stage band at school, jazz band, jazz quintet and the church orchestra...so he's getting a lot of exposure. I want a quality instrument that'll last him for a while, probably a bb tuba. I understand he may need to look at changing to a C tuba in college and beyond. Any helpful thoughts, tips etc would be helpful. And any instruments for sale - we'd be happy to look at your offers - so far we've been encouraged to buy a 4 valve, rotary?, 4/4 tuba. Any other recommendations are food for us to consider at this point. Thanks all!!!
