Sick but played the gig anyways

I'd like to start what could be a fascinating thread on the performances you HAD to play while sick as a dog (and I don't mean drunk while playing Eb polka-schlock at the local brewhaus.)

The reason I think this might be interesting, if we can refrain from overt scatalogical or anatomical references, is
1. the no-out contractual committments or
2. principal parts which couldn't be trusted to section players who haven't "boned up" on for high-profile gigs.

I just remember a friend of mine who was principal horn for the Cape Town Phil back a few years telling me a yarn about a flu bug or epizooty or something that just waxed his ability to play, though he showed up and kept the bell-end handy just in case....

Fire away--

Phil
