As far as the acoustics go, I've played on both stages as well, and don't find Avery Fisher to be horrible or treacherous by a long stretch. Certainly not the best hall, but neither is Orchestra Hall in Chicago, but the CSO isn't planning to move to Medina Temple, which sounds much better. To each his/her own.
