Dear Shawn,

In Germany, you would see F tubas right alsonside the BBb's in the professional concert bands. In Hungary, I saw quite a few F tubas in concert bands, and, when used by younger, smaller players, I felt the tubas were more manageable for the players. I myself have played my F in concert bands, and like it very much. There are a few exceptions, however. I never felt the low register of the F was quite as broad and supportive as a BBb or CC. But, when there are BBb players in the same section, it really added depth and definition to the section when the low BBb lines are doubled an octave higher by the F.
Bottom Line: It's your chioce. If you can play it and you like it, do it.
Carl
