I play a Yamaha F. It is an orchestral tuba and I find that it has worked well in Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band playing. I would suggest that anyone interested in buygin an F think about what type of playing they want to do most. For me it is quintet and orchestra. I found that the orchestra at the University of Wyoming was small enough for the sound to really blend well... If you want to blend with other B flats though I am not sure that and F is the way to go. In the lower register the B flat is obviously a little more open due to the fingerings. But do what you want to do cause you have to be happy with what you are playing.
