John, I have this book and feel that it was a good investment. I covers several areas: A brief history of the tuba family by Bevans. Then there is a literature section Solo, solo with keyboard accompaniment, band with solo tuba and orchestra with solo. Then, multiple tubas in ensemble. Program notes and an equipment and accessories section. Also thesis subjects and some big name bios. All in all a complete book. I have used it many times and found it helpful to find works to perform other than the VW's concerto. There are no photos. If you will be searching for literature to perform, by all means buy the book. You can save a few bucks if you buy it directly from Indiana University Press. I hope this answers your questions....
