f.w.i.w. I am seriously missing my old
(Cerveny) Karl Ziess. A LOT of folks have
opinions about these old horns, but I have
yet to hear from someone who owned one
that was a dog. If you can find one,
and are willing to go with a BBflat horn,
then I HIGHLY recommend it! .890 bore,
a lot of copper in the brass (can make a cool
red patina) but this horn had the ability
to cover the big orch stuff with ease.
When I put it up for sale last summer for 3K/offer,
several listers said "no way, that's a thousand dollar horn"
Well, it is gone now, I decided to swith to CC tuba
and sold it to buy a Rusk/Marzan/Bohm&Meinl/York,
but I tell you what, if I could get my hand on another one
like that so-called "thousand dollar horn" I'd buy two!
