If they can be brought into good condition, it may be true that your
Kings are better than newer instruments from mainstream American
manufacturers such as UMI or Selmer. However, the tubas you seem to
be considering are probably a step better.
You haven't said which Cerveny or Mein-Weston horns you were looking
at, but you might also consider Yamaha's nice four-rotor BBb tuba.
Miraphone has some affordable models through Tuba Exchange and the
Brasswind. I've also heard good comments about the St. Petersburg
tuba.
