My conductor keeps asking me for a darker sound, but I'm not quite sure what he wants. Could someone clarify the difference between bright/dark, broad/thin, deep/shallow, exciting/mello, loud/soft, whatever- I'm getting confused. I've always thought I had a dark sound, but maybe I'm getting it confused with another quality of my playing. How does one "darken" his sound, without giving less volume or making sounding less focused? Any advice appreciated...
