I've played on a Daryl Smith model for about 5 years now...I really love the horn. There are several aftermarket leadpipes available for retro-fit, so you can customize the specific type of sound you are looking for.
The valve action on the newer Daryl Smith model seems faster and smoother thatn on my older one. I would play a number of Kalisons before deciding on one or not, as each individual one plays slightly differently.
