Before 1850 pitch was pretty low A=438.I have a 9key guichard from about 1830. You'll hear differing opinions as to whether you can bring one done to pitch.I played one that had been converted and thought it played fine.Don't forget you have to decide whether you want to play Bb or C. I've found the Bb to be the best for most things. The Berlioz Fantastic Symphony seems to work best on Bb.
