In addition, brass bands do plenty of outdoor gigs while symphony orchestras do so rarely.
We're talkin' apples and bananas. I saw the Univ. of Illinois (Champagne-Urbana)concert band about six years ago, and they had an entire back row of tubas. They managed to sound like one instrument playing. I've never heard anything so perfectly in tune ever.
