I have the same situation with an old Alex, although reaming would not be necessary because the linkage is connected to the top of the valve by a removeable screw. I don't know whether the screw or the linkage hole has worn. Maybe both. Replacing the screw is possible, as I suppose is replacing the linkage, but these are not parts you find at your local hardware store. I can control most of the click with lubrication. I use something very light. It requires replacement every 2 or 3 days, but it doesn't gum things up. I think "bullet proof" is a perfect way to describe the valves themselves. The machining is truly remarkable.
