Will this reach you before the world as we know it ends (temporarily)? I will revisit the Slatkin VW 2 on your recommendation. I found his series generally uninvolving. I thought the 8th and 9th better than the others, but I will try #2 again. The forthcoming CSO 2000 set will contain a Ravinia performance of VW 2 by the CSO under Sir Malcolm Sargent. I've had it on tape for years. It SMOKES! No studio recording can touch it.

The Previn/EMI Shostakovich 8 is everything you say, but I also have a live Salzburg Festival peformance from 1975(?) that opens with Corsair Overture. Can't beat that with a stick.

What an OBSESSION this BBS is.

Sean, you can't get back soon enough.
