In my opinion, whether it is an audition for college or a professional group, it should be approached in the same way. It's easy to let Michael off the hook, but is that the best thing for him? He has chosen a career path, and it's time for him to take it seriously.
Wouldn't he be better served learning this lesson now, rather than living with regrets later in life?
