I don't read these comments as negative. She asked what she could do with a euphonium performance degree other than play in a military band, and the answer... is almost nothing. The only job for which a euphonium performance degree preparees her is to play in a military band, or she could continue through to a doctorate and then teach at a university.
That doesn't mean that she shouldn't get a degree in euphonium performance. She should just go into it knowing that she isn't doing it to prepare for a specific job. If she views it as similar to a "liberal arts" degree, and takes as broad a set of courses as possible while still completing the performance requirements, there will be many opportunities for employment. Those opportunities are unlikely to involve playing euphonium for a living though.
