I believe that Lee is referring to Computer-Aided Design rather than Computer-Aided Drafting. All the German manufacturers have a computer program that uses a transducer at the mouthpiece receiver to simulate a frequency range, and then measure the resonance of the instrument in terms of impedance. They can take this measurement and define where the taper needs to be changed to adjust the intonation characteristics.

The link below has been presented here before, and it may or may not be the same software that the manufacturers use. But it's the same idea.
