Computer aided "drafting" is sort of a thing of the past. Today's design engineer does more than "draft". At least here in Deeeetroit, we use software packages that are somewhat all-inclusive with components that not only draw 3D geometry, but also do finite element analysis, mold flow analysis, kinematics and the like as intergral segments of the process.
