I don't know about your band, but when I went on NCAA tourney trips the only time we obstructed anyone's view was during time-outs. It must have been really important for that lady to see the cheerleaders. :) If that's something you want to see, that's okay; but it sounds like this lady complained about being behind the band simply because it was the band.
