How many of the tuba players of major orchestras got their start in a service band? I know of two, but that's about it. And for those of you who have been/are in service bands, what would say the advantages of a service band are over the orchestral path, that most colleges train you for? Pro's and Con's of each? Hope this turns out to be a good thread.
