I realize that there are a great many posts on TubeNet about the PT6, but I'm going to add another anyway. Right now I have a Meinl-Weston 32 (CC). Its a really dark, open horn and I like it alot, but I'm really looking for something a little bigger to take with me to college next year. Conveniently, my teacher is planning on buying an HB6, and he has a silver PT6 that he needs to sell. Since he really, really likes my horn, we were thinking about some kind of trade, where I would give him my Meinl-Weston 32 (I bought it for $2750, great deal) and maybe $5000-$6000 in exchange for his instrument plus a gig bag and a hard case. He has done some work on the instrument, including replacing the stock valve springs with french horn springs, and after hearing him play I know what It can sound like. Do you think this is a good deal? Would a PT6 fulfill all the roles I would need in college? I seek your wisdom.
