Take a look at Dave Fedderly's Baltimore Brass web site. He has a Miraphone 185 5V CC tuba listed for $3795. The horn is a GREAT doublers instument. Tommy Johnson, Jim Self and Don Waldrop ALL use the 185 CC for studio work (among other instruments). If I were still doubling on Bass Bone that is the tuba I'd want. Small size, big sound (when needed) and would fit in perfectly (I think) with the type of tuba playing you describe doing.
