Hello,

I'm am primarily a bass trombonist and I double on tenor and alto trombone. Now I'm looking to learn tuba. So my question is, what is a good tuba for me?

Mainly I'm looking for something that I'll be able to use as a double for shows and in a big band (when the bass trombone part calls for tuba). I may also occasionally have the opportunity to play in a brass quintet, tuba/euph ensemble and wind symphony.

I'd like to stay under $3500 which probably means a used horn.

I'm not certain about what key tuba would work best for me. I have some familiarity with Bb fingerings from playing a little euphonium. Several people have suggested to me that an F would be a better choice since I'm a trombone player. However I understand Eb is a better "all around" horn. So I'm leaning more towards something in Eb.

Clear Skies,
David
