The old Mercury recordings of the Eastman Wind Ensemble in the early 1960's with Frederick Fennell conducting are considered "classics', but as to THE recording with THE BEST euphonium solo, maybe there is a D.C. military band (Navy, etc.) recording with Roger Behrend or Brian Bowman featured (??).

I'll tell you though, there is a guy who browses this list - and also the tubaeuph list - Jeff Underwood who, as a sophomore at the University of Kansas with a Yama321 did an OUTSTANDING job on a KU Band recording with Frederick Fennell conducting: recorded in 1979. I'm certain that there are scores of other unknown recordings of performances such as this with world-class euphonium solo work on that piece.
