Vince is like a car salesman, and the Tuba Exchange is like a car lot. Vince sizes you up for how much money you have to spend. Then he steers you to the tuba he sells in your price range. If all you have is $3k, you get the St. Pete. If you have $4500, you get shown the Miraphone. If you have $6k, it is the Kalison. And if you have $9k, it is the Yamaha. Just like a good car salesman, Vince finds out your bottom line.

That is exactly how the original poster on this thread got stuck with a an over-priced Kalison. It is not so much that the Kalison has lost value; the more accurate statement is that he paid too much money for it in the first place.

Everything Vince sells is over-priced, and in the case of the St Pete, is a piece of junk. Fortunately for us, Dave Fedderly has a thriving business in Baltimore. There is much more competition in tuba prices today than 5 years ago. Today, anybody who gets sucked in by Vince is a fool.
