Brass is brass, valves or not. To say that the tounging syllable for trombone has to be different than it is for tuba is ridiculous. Valves have nothing to do with what happens in the lips...had you used the difference in mouthpiece size, maybe you'd have an argument (although, like I said, brass is brass, and the only reason to use different articulation is to differentiate style, but I digress). If Mr. Northcut's methods don't work for you, or sit uncomfortably with you, that's one thing. It doesn't mean they're wrong. For you to publically disrespect him (or anyone else, for that matter) they was you did is wrong. Take this opportunity to learn from the experience, apologize for what you said, and move on.
