Mark Finley made me some heavy valve bottom valve caps for it and wow, incredible. Everything is better about the tuba. These were around 2 lbs each and the only downside is the tuba tends to want to leav a little now, oh well. The benefits way outweigh the negatives.
Tuba plays with more projection, easier in the upper register and the lower register is incredible. Tongueing is cleaner and easier. I do not have a fast single tongue but if you have one it will be hard to muddle it up with speed like normal.
I thought the trumpet players were just nuts, looks like I was wrong.
What do you think of the tuba and how does the orchestra like it.
