I've got one of the "standard size" King rotary BBbs (made in 1935) with the 0.750" bore. On mine, the rotors are not hollow, but the ports on the rotors are gold-plated. I use 70 lb. test braided dacron leader and have never had a string break.

On mine, some unknown repair guy re-tapered the second (inner) loop of the large branch which gives excellent intonation throughout the range of the instrument. I suspect that the original version tapered entirely too quickly.

It's quite an impressive-sounding instrument and is every bit as large as the 2XJ Conns without the intonation problems--and very fast valves.
