You can buy some kinds of straps that do not need rings but have extra straps to wind around the tubing. I think the Meinl Weston harness/strap has this accessory strap, if I remember correctly. Others may, as well, perhaps the Blue Note. Check the UMI, Brasswind, Tuba Exchange and ReUnion Blues sites.
I intend to modify my Wenger Tuba Tamer later for standing but if you need a solution you can travel with, perhaps a speaker stand or camera pod or K & M tall playing rest would be the best.
