Some hand-assembled horns exist (a few perhaps as little as two) made with spun bells (like nirschl's) but bows that are machine-hydraulic-drawn (unlike Nirschls which were hand-hammered) The hype was that the machine-produced parts combined with post-industrial-age mass production process controls (and less time ragging the finished horn clean) would save the end user perhaps 40-50% of the cost of an near-equivalent instrument: comparable to the "Nirschl 4/4." Thats all it was, hype. When you consider that the now-Besson-owned Geretsrieg concerrn cannot even keep up with the market demand for piston valvesets (a staple bread-and-butter production process), I'd not wait on the outside chance of getting one of the "Besson Nirschls" anytime soon. Oh, b.t.w. you can get an essentially hand-built CC Gronitz PCM for roughly the rumored price of the "Besson-Nirschls, about 6500 bucks. Hope thats a straight enough answer?
