Todd,

The only Major League Baseball team that spent its own money to build its stadium in the past 15 years is the San Francisco Giants. Every other municipality that has a relatively new stadium (and probably all the old ones too, but I don't know that as fact) have used public dollars. Try this link to learn about just one "public/private partnership" in professional sports. Don't pretend that business gets no benefit from government. Mass transit, roads, police and security, all of these things are paid by the people, not the teams. Arts organizations add to the quality of life in a community, just like sports teams do. I have no problem with tax dollars going to both, but they both get subsidies.

Don't get me started on the airline industry. Why is it that only Southwest can turn a profit?
