Plateless Valves? Also....Besson H?

Are any of you playing an instrument now where ther valves have no plating, or very little? I'm being offered a horn by a reputable dealer person, and apparently the valves have little or no playing, but supposedly the instrument plays extremely well and sounds wonderful. He actually suggested NOT having the valves replated. Is this possible? Will not replating them become a problem in the future?

Also, I found a couple of Besson horns locally; one was in a Junque Shoppe with a couple of frozen valves, and it was a Besson 2-20, I believe. I looked for a serial number, but could only find a tiny "H" below the "2" on the second valve. Does this mean the horn's high pitch? The other horn is a Besson Class A, and the owner says that it plays a little higher than BBb. He's not sure if it's High Pitch or not. He only wants $70 for it....is it worth having for practising on?

I appreciate your help with these most mundane of questions!
Steven
