Just playing for the love of the horn? It seems to me that there have been a ton of posts lately about not getting money or playing for this person or not having a solo to play. I am often happiest just having my mouth to the horn playing the bass line of some sousa march in summer time thankful that I have the ability to play the horn. I don't need the melody or some solo out in front. I have a loaner Conn 20j to play not some latest and greatest model. I often play in a community band that plays little more than Swearingen and Curnow pieces and I love it cause I am playing the tuba. I have never been paid a dime to play my horn anywhere and I never will probably. Feel free to flame away.....
