I would imagine Floyd would have some insight into this issue. Also, Vince Chicowitz seemed to have a pretty broad grasp of this from some time I spent with him in the mid-70s; you may want to have a chat with him. You may also find some stuff in the Boston Symphony archives (if you have an 'in' with them?) regarding Kilton Vinal Smith, I think he played F tuba most of the time. Don Butterfield played with the American Symphony in the 60s, under Stokowsky, and I recall he used an F tuba often. (Gosh I'm feelin' old! I can probably get some contact information for Don if you'd like.)
