I am in the Heartland of America AF Band and we often use a F (PT-10p) and CC (PT-6) or and Efer (Wilson) and a CC. We like that combination that a lot. We like how the bass tubas bridge the gap between the euph and the trombones. There are several advantages in using a comination of tubas in the section. If you are in a military gig like us, you dont get to use the F tuba that much. The F tuba sounds great on the upper octave stuff as well as the solo stuff. The person playing the CC really gets to blow and fill up the low stuff. Playing F in band can really boost your F tuba chops. Those are my thoughts on the subject.
