Big horns are a kick in the testosterone, but they have their limits. A 4/4, which is the most common size of BBb will pretty much fill all of your needs, unless you plan to be the lone tuba in a 70 piece concert band. It's much easier to build and play a good 4/4 than to do the same for a 6/4. Since more 4/4 BBb tubas are sold than just about any other type, you also get your best pricing on these. Have a look at the VMI, Meinl-Westons or even a good used King or Conn. Save your money and give yourself and your better half a nice vacation.
