The only time it really doubles the high brass is when the tuba and the trumpet have a (couple) lines together. Yes the tuba plays some of the lines that the strings have already played, but it IS NOT A DOUBLING SITUATION. Lets get things straight. You make it sound as if the tuba part is part of the string and high brass sound when it is actually quite more. It playes more like solo lines throughout the work with interspersed ensemble playing. Have you actually performed this work?? I again ask that we be quite careful on this fourm. There are many inquiring young minds watching and we would like to give them information that will help them not confuse.
