Tie two strong (temporary, obviously) cord loops to strategic (but sturdy) parts of the tuba. Go to a music store and get a shoulder strap made to carry Pro-Pac (etc.) cases and clip the metal hooks on each end to the two loops of cord tied on to your tuba...
...or get a chair. ;^/
