My luck with UPS and FedEx has varied. UPS has been very good in my area. When they deliver a package and I am not home, the driver always brings it around to the back porch, which is covered and enclosed. This ensures the package is dry, and as it is out of sight, this detracts anyone doing some self-shopping. FedEx is always fast, but they leave the package on the front porch. This leaves it visible to anyone one sidewalk, and uncovered. A few weeks ago we had a heavy, all day rainstorm, FedEx left a package for my. The cardboard box was completely soaked, but fortunately the contents were in sealed plastic bags. It seems that as package delivery service demand has increased, quality of service has decreased.
