I didn't get a photo, but sent him one of a 2975 and he says that it looks "exactly like it." The only difference is that his is in lacquer and the photo was silver plated.
If that's the case, isn't $2000 a reasonable price? After all, the 2975 at Baltimore brass was $3400, and people said that was a good price. I think that the $1200 that the one sold for recently was probably a little low.
