I used a strap with my old (2 piece) King 2341 and marched in a couple of parades. I found that I had to keep it high to comfortably reach the mouthpiece. I find it awkward to march with because it is so heavy and the weight is all out in front, making you unbalanced. I got a Conn 20K sousaphone and even though I believe it weighs a little more, find it much more confortable for march with due to better weigh distribution, and it gives me at least as good, if not better, a sound. I haven't tried marching with my new King.
