Actually, Jay owns four tubas (plus, I think, I a cimbasso, but that doesn't count). He has a 4/4 Rudy Meinl CC, a 6/4 Nirschl, and the big and small Eb's you mentioned. He has said before that this is what he needs to cover all the bases--A small Eb for native bass tuba parts, a large Eb for works where the CC's are too big or where the Eb is less work, the big CC for most big works, and the Rudy for when the Nirschl is too big.
