I seem to have very acidic hands and to protect my tuba from wear I have some 3M tape that I put on to protect the contact spots. I put this on the 4th walve slide that I pull and where my hand rests and also places where my legs touch at all if I am wearing shorts. I've also put it on the keys (rotary)you can cut it so it fits about anywhere, but some of the smaller tubing around curves can be tricky. I really like the stuff because it is clear and no one can tell it's there. But like that really matters. I put this big piece of rubber from half a car mat on my bottom bow and secured it so that it sticks to my pants better and it is easier to hold the horn in the correct position. This could be corrected if the leadpipe was to curve around the bell more though.
