I would recommend James Galway as a reflex. He really is amazing and you won't find too many contemporaries that are better or even on par. Maybe a joint CD of him and his wife. Jean-Pierre Rampal is actually another favorite of mine, but in my opinion, his best stuff is the jazz flute music that he plays by Claude Bolling. If you want to show her something that will really make her want to learn flute, that's the stuff. Javaniase is a favorite of those works. It's very different from classical, though. Just as skillfull but different skills. The tones obviously jazz tone, so I don't know if that's what you want to show her at first, but I'm sure she'd love it.
