The Rudy Meinl cimbasso is a larger bore than the Meinl Weston, and depending on the bell, plays a little bigger (at least for me) than the MW as well. As far as the comment about playing old instruments alongside Bachs and Shires. the cimbassos being produced today are nothing like the old ones. As trombones have evolved, so have cimbassos, believe it or not. Larger bore, more valves, and most importantly, better intonation.
