Have you ever noticed how, when you play in a smaller room, how much sound quality diminishes, especially if the room has acoustic ceiling tiles? Is the cause of this phenomenon a result of the removal of overtones as a result of the tiling, or is this simply a result of hearing more of your "real sound" without any echoes? It seems I practice best in a large room that allows the sound to echo somewhat without much damping, whereas when I practice in the basement, with the tiles, the sound turns into a muddy, awful puddle of bass. Anyone else experienced this, or does anyone know the real reason behind it?
