I too have noticed this and what I do is alternate where I am going to practice. I sound really bad in practice rooms, but I like that because it makes me work even harder to make myself sound pretty in a "flat" room. I then will practice later in the day in a larger room where the sound can echo. I think playing in different places allows a musician to only enhance their abilities.
