That is why the concept of bands playing orchestral transcriptions has such a black eye.
It's not that the transcribers are guilty of anything. It's just that - unless a band of Sean Chisham's caliber...or a collegiate organization such as the Eastman Wind Ensemble...or similarly-capable band takes up the challenge, subtile phrases come off as so many series of "thuds".
